The Insufficient Homosexual Stories from a man who fails to meet media expectations of what it means to be gay: |
08/01/2005 Pointless posting about SDCCIts been long enough that this really is pointless, but anyway, some noninformative, not really at all, or at least only slightly spoilerish genre entertainment cosas: V for Vendetta: -I have no idea how gutted the story will be, or if the movie will any good, but the presentations goodie bag had a Guy Fawkes mask, which gives me an easy out for this years dead celebrity party. -Everyone in the auditorium loved Natalie Portman. King Kong: -Jack Black fights giant cockroaches? Chronicles of Narnia: -Looks very expensive. -Looks very Lord of the Rings, but with kids The Nightstalker: -After watching a clip involving a woman being chased around her house then attacked or eaten or something, I decided that I didnt care enough to stick around for the rest of the presentation. -From what little Ive know about the show, it was probably Kolchaks wife getting dead so he can be angst filled and sadand I still dont seem to care. Battlestar Galactica: -Jamie Bamber who plays Apollo is much better looking in real life than on screen, or maybe its just the English accent. -During a requisite question about Starbuck now being a woman, Mr. Bamber made roughly half of the audience roar with laughter at his implication that the old school seventies Apollo & Starbuck were surely getting it on. The other half of the audience seemed to find the joke not so funny. -Grace Park who plays Boomer answered a couple of questions in a very Cylon way, making her both very cool and a just a tad scary. -Mary McDonnell who plays the president was fun. When asked a question about her character being single, she gave a reasoned thoughtful answer as to why not being in a relationship and facing all her hardships alone made Roslin a stronger character. An answer she threw out a few minutes later, after listening to her castmates talk about sex scenes with cylons. This was enough for her to change her mind and say that the president should get in on some of that action. -The Battlestar Pegasus and Commander Cain should make a return appearance in the second season, though not Sheba, ensuring that none (?) of the original female characters are used. Invasion: -Looks interesting despite the invading alien/whatever the heck they may be lights in the sky, or rephrased slightly, the suspense/mystery elements look to be the least interesting part of the show. Lost: -When Josh Holloway who plays Sawyer walked onto stage it got quite loud. More than a few women think hes hot stuff. -The plane crashing scenes were apparently done with green screens and good old-fashioned Star Trek rock left, rock right, now rock left again action. -I am definetly buying the first season DVD when it comes out. Corpse Bride: -Looks good. -Looks very Tim Burton. -No Jack Skellington cameo? Aeon Flux (the movie): -The still photos I saw were very striking looking, but um, why live action, or better yet why?
