The Insufficient Homosexual Stories from a man who fails to meet media expectations of what it means to be gay: |
Mon 01/14/2002 It speaks againI am speaking again and since I no longer sound like a seventy year old who has spent the past fifty years chain smoking, Im guessing that the surgery worked. I had a week off from work cause of the surgery and I had a vague idea that I was going to get a lot work done around the house. Hehe, boy was that foolish of me. I did move some plants around, and rearrange both the upper and middle patios, but other than some yard work, I got very little accomplished this past week. I did however, succeed in wasting a lot of time while stuck at home not talking. I spent time reading assorted comic strip collections of Dilbert, and Dykes to Watch out for. I also managed to plow through a couple of silly mystery novels by Michael Craft. When I wasnt sitting on the couch with a cat on my lap reading, I was lying on the couch watching television, or more specifically, dvds. I wasted time watching stuff like: 24 Nights (quirky, low budget, very predictable, but sort of enjoyable gay romance flick) Forgive and Forget (another gay flick, also predictable, but not so much enjoyable as annoying) The Dish (amusing) Utena (Japanese anime) A Very Natural Thing (very seventies) Diva (Ive lost track of how many times Ive watched it) And most of the Twin Peaks first season collection (a Christmas gift and more proof of my geekyness) Some people use their sick time off from work to work on interesting projects. I just turn into a media junkie. OK, maybe not that extreme, but still... Its been amusing watching the speed that Rons blogger code has torn through the blogger community. Its been laugh out loud funny watching the frenzy that has resulted from people trying to figure out who exactly have been um, extra friendly with each other. I would only be a x-. Which is not to say that there are not certain, say cute folks out there who are certainly tempting, its just that Im I started speaking again on Saturday (01/12/02), which was good, since John and I had dinner with some of the monsters (His college friends) for a belated birthday celebration. We met at Donalds place, which involved driving into the most crowded section of Sunset Blvd., turning on a small, teeny street, then working up through a maze of other twisty, steep hill streets. By the time we ran out of street and nearly out of hill, we were at his new place. It was very beautiful, and very hollywood I guess. He has entertainment lawyers and television reporters for neighbors. I dont think Im attractive enough to invited to such a thing. Oh well, big loss -) To see the new La Llorona Got Milk commercial
