The Insufficient Homosexual

Stories from a man who fails to meet media expectations of what it means to be gay:
white, frivolous, over sexed yet sexless, shrill, single, stylish, a clown, unimportant, et al.

A Short One.

I got my first critique of my site the other day and it wasnt that positive. I have to admit that Im not taking the criticism too seriously, but I guess it bugs that the very first response I get was negative. Anyway, Im providing some of my responses to specific remarks in case anyone else cares or had the same feelings/questions/comments:

1. Nico (Neekoh) is my real name, not a "silly" nickname that I made up. Its short for Nicolas (Neekoh lahs) which is the Spanish spelling and pronunciation. I was named after my father who was named after an uncle who was named after the saint, or so Ive been told.

2. Yes I use an occasional Spanish word in the journal. No I dont expect everyone to understand Spanish. Considering that so far its only been a few words and that I assumed that it would be fairly easy to figure out the meaning of the words from the context used, I didnt expect it to be a problem. I tend to speak Spanglish at home and while writing totally in English would be more convenient for English only speakers, it would be kinda weird for me.

3. Yes, there are typos and run on sentences. I tend to write these things relatively late at night with a cat trying to sit on the keyboard as I type. I also tend to write like I speak which is kind of disorganized and jumpy. For me, its either dont post at all or make corrections after the fact. For now, Im choosing to post.

4. Im not entirely sure why its an issue, But yes, John and I know a lot of woman.

Nothing overly exciting happened this week other then the off and on rain which has been my official reason for being a lazy bum and not doing any work outside. Any excuse I can use, I grab onto.

More later, nico.
